
Joanna T. Campbell

Joanna T. Campbell is a Professor of Management at the Carl H. Lindner College of Business at the University of Cincinnati and a Research Affiliate at the University of Notre Dame. She holds a Ph.D. in Strategic Management from Texas A&M University and currently serves as the Head of the Department of Management. Joanna grew up in Europe and is a dual citizen of Poland and the United States. Her research examines how executives’ backgrounds and experiences impact the organizations they lead, and how configurational theory and methods can be used to address pressing questions about organizations and the people within them. Her work has been published in several outlets, including the Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Journal of Management, Organizational Research Methods, and Strategic Management Journal. She has served or currently serves on the editorial review boards of Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Journal of Management, and Strategic Management Journal. She has also served a term as an Associate Editor of the Academy of Management Review (2020-2023) and is an incoming Associate Editor of the Journal of Management (2026-2029). Joanna has held multiple leadership roles in the Academy of Management and the Strategic Management Society, including service on the Executive Committee of the Strategic Management division of the Academy of Management. She currently sits on the board of directors of International Corporate Governance Society (ICGS). Joanna has taught strategy and capstone courses to students in undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs.
