Ruth Sealy is a Professor of Leadership at Henley Business School, University of Reading, UK. She has recently left the University of Exeter Business School, from where she retains an Honorary Professorship, having previously been Professor of Responsible Leadership, Director of Impact, and formerly co-Director of the Exeter Centre for Leadership. Ruth’s work has focused on boardroom composition and dynamics for 15 years and between 2007-2017 she provided the data for the UK government-sponsored Femail FTSE Report and the Lord Davies Review into Women on Boards. Working closely with two government departments, she contributed to the creation and enactment of the UK’s women on board policy, also feeding into European Commission work on the same. She has collaborated with the UK’s Financial Reporting Council on changes o the UK’s Code of Governance regarding diversity policies and board evaluation as well as non-financial narrative reporting and behavioural board dynamics. As an organizational psychologist, her research has also taken micro- and meso-level approaches, but as a pragmatist she focuses on the nuanced relationships between actors and their environments, including the socio-cognitive dynamics of interactions.
